Erwin Schoitsch received an MSc in Technical Physics and a BSc in Computer Science at the Technical University of Vienna (Austria).
He worked for about 35 years npw at Austrian Research Centres in Seibersdorf as IT specialist. His assignments were system programmer, engineer, department head and project manager of many industrial and research projects dealing with development of systems with high dependability requirements. He also is the quality manager responsible for software development. He was resp. is involved in many European projects in the areas of safety, dependability and software process improvement (ESPITI, OLOS, SPIRE, ENCRESS, ACRuDA, ECUA, ISA-EuNet, AMSD).
Since 2004, Mr. Schoitsch is member of the managing team of the Integrated Project DECOS (Dependable Embedded Components and Systems), where ARCS is the project co-ordinator. He is active in several international and national organisations (EWICS TC7, ERCIM) and standardization groups (IEC 61508). His interests focus on a holistic approach to system dependability.
